Bedtime

Bedtime usually happens in 1 of 3 ways:

1. HAPPY ROUTINE
Bath; pajamas; book; song; pray; kisses; tuck in babydolls; night night.

2. TOO TIRED TO CARE
We're out late; Lucy falls asleep in the car; we put her in bed, and with her eyes still closed, she says, "sing song."

3. FULL-OUT PROTEST
Bath; pajamas; book; song; the protest starts... "no lie down" or "I eat;" we try to keep going... pray; kisses; tuck in babydolls; she's climbing out of bed while we walk/run out of the room and close the door. Lucy is now on the other side sobbing. In full protest she takes off her bow and pushes it under the door. She eventually falls asleep on the floor, and we move her to bed a few hours later.

Happy

- Lucy asks to dance to "Getcha' Head in the Game" (High School Musical)
- At bedtime (or in the car) she says, "sing Praise Him."
- Sometimes we'll be playing then she'll smile and say, "I happy."
- The other day we were outside drawing with sidewalk chalk; Bryan wrote her name and said, "L-U-C-Y -- Lucy!" and then Lucy pointed to the letters and said "L-U-C-Y -- Ucy!" (We're still working on her L's.)
- If she's playing and falls, or if I ask her if she needs to go to the bathroom, she'll tell me with a very strong inflection, "I'm O-taay!"

Day 3

- Day 1: Lucy (sans diaper) has no clue what's going on. I'm no more than arms-length away from her all day and am getting good at noticing when she's going/about to go and picking her up and RUNNING her to the bathroom.

- Day 2: Lucy is not telling me before the act. Today is a total repeat of Day 1 except that I make the mistake of playing hide-n-seek with her (letting her get more than arms-length away). Hide-n-seek is really me sitting on the floor then Lucy running out of the room yelling "Hide me! Hide me!" She's gone 2 seconds then runs back before repeating. This time she runs back yelling, "Mommy! Mommy!" She was obviously pleased with herself, held my hand, took me to the spot and pointed. #2 (on the floor).

- Day 3: I'm not so hopeful this 3-day thing is going to work. She wakes up; I take off her nighttime pull-up, and she runs around in her t-shirt. We eat breakfast then she starts playing. Suddenly she throws down her toy, yells "Mommy! Mommy!" and runs straight to the bathroom. I couldn't believe it. And that's how the rest of the day went. I think she's got it (but I'll still keep an extra set packed in my purse).

No Dipes

- We're in day 2 of what I hope to be the "3-Day Potty Training" program.

- Lucy's pretty good at counting to 10.

- These are the snakeskin stilletos she consistently picks out for me to wear when we're leaving the house. She thinks they go great with my black yoga pants at the grocery store (she's got a little of my Grandma Maggie in her).
