Home of the Fighting Lorena Leopards

Lorena, TX - 1987 State 2A Football Champs.

Lucy and I took a road trip to Austin, TX to meet up with Bryan at Lost Pines.  Bryan was on a work retreat, so we joined in...  Of course we think Lucy loves the water.  We went swimming everyday and floated the lazy river.  She seemed to enjoy it and was taking it all in.  Anywhoooo, on our way to Austin we drove through my hometown, Lorena, TX, and you won't believe it, but.... they just got a Sonic.  Lorena has really grown; they were 3A when I graduated.  I went to school 1st through 12th grade there... Lorena Elementary School, Lorena Middle School, Lorena High School... you get the picture.  We had 1 grocery store (Jordans), 1 post office, 1 - no I take it back - 2 gas stations, a steakhouse, a Baptist church (my hometown church FBC Lorena also pictured here) and a Methodist Church, a mechanic, and a store in the plaza with Jordans that was usually a restaurant (a really good homecooking place - thank you Juanita), a video store or a hair salon.  We lived in a blue house with a red roof and a big yard.  We loved it.  It just goes to show you don't have to have a lot to have a lot of fun.  We used to drive all the way to Hewitt or Waco for Sonic so this is a big deal.  Sic 'Em Red.
